The Home Depot saw an opportunity to increase in-store paint sales but faced stiff competition from both specialty paint retailers as well as other big-box home improvement stores. The team at The Home Depot knew that a key to being competitive was to offer capable color selection tools and a smooth digital paint shopping experience to make it easy for shoppers to find the right color and paint for their projects.
Though The Home Depot had a mobile app to support its paint department, it was out of date and needed a user experience overhaul. That’s where we got involved.
From the UX design to user testing, visual design, and prototyping, over the course of multiple design sprints, we completely redesigned The Home Depot ProjectColor mobile app experience. And after a successful and collaborative design process with the brand, we handed a complete set of annotated wireframes, visual design files, and style guide over to for development by their internal team. Within months the new ProjectColor had been updated and made available to paint shoppers.

Before visual designs were created for the app, we conducted several collaborative design sprints to fully wireframe the layout and functionality.
